Tips for safe summer holidays

28 de June, 2020

Summer has just arrived on the planet’s northern hemisphere, and after some intense months of lockdown and isolation due to the coronavirus crisis, it seems that the time has come to enjoy those first post-COVID-19 trips.

Today we want to give you some little tips to make holidays safer for everyone. Not only because we must be alert regarding possible outbreaks of coronavirus, but also because we must be aware of how securely we leave our home for a few days of carefree travel.

Common sense before going on holiday

Logic dictates that it’s not sensible to announce on social media when and how our house will be unoccupied. We may have our social media set to private and yet we can't be sure whether that information will reach third parties.

Before leaving on a trip we should, however, let someone we trust know and, leave them keys to the house if possible. What could these people do?

- Empty the letterbox when there are letters and advertising. Because a full letterbox is a sign that no one has been in that house for days.

- Check that the door of the house is untouched and that the inside of the house is tidy.

- Gently move the blinds. Ideally, they should always be halfway down, but it would be great if the blinds could be slightly lowered in the same week.

- Water the plants. This gives you the peace of mind that your plants will survive your holiday. Not bad!

- Feed your cat. Because if you have a cat at home, we know they usually like to spend a few days alone. But it is important for someone to visit it and check that it has food left and is OK.

Other security measures that you will find effective include:

- Install a burglar alarm. Not only will it warn you if someone enters your home, it can also change the mind of any potential offender and prevent them from entering.

- Set timers. How about programming some of the lights in the house to come on for a few hours at night?

- Take out a home insurance policy. So you'll have the reassurance that your valuables are insured. At Mediterráneo we have already introduced you to our own broker SECURME for private and community insurance.

Finally, we would like to remind you that your 2020 summer holidays will be marked by the COVID-19 crisis. If you have symptoms of Coronavirus such as a cough and fever please try to stay indoors to see how these symptoms develop. And in any case, wear a mask anywhere you can't keep a safe distance of 2 metres.

From Mediterráneo Administración de Fincas we want to wish you all a HAPPY SUMMER.
